Ukrainian Gaming Industry Fundraising Drive Exceeds Target

The Ukrainian video game industry, a global video game industry fundraising drive launched earlier this month to assist the Ukrainian people, has exceeded its initial £250,000 (€298,817/$328,226) objective.

The campaign has gathered £251,425 to date, with organizers urging a final push before the end of March to collect more funds for those impacted by the Russian incursion into Ukraine.

Betsson Group remains the largest contributor to date, pledging £50,000 to the initiative, while other significant contributions have come from Spribe OU, Oryx Gaming, Games Global, Microgaming, Funfair Games, Fast Track, FSB, Vixio, Enteractive, OLBG, SBC, Clarion Gaming, Just for the Win, and Better Collective.

The campaign will finance Choose Love, a registered charity that will utilize the donations to support various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working on purely humanitarian endeavors.

Choose Love has thus far provided assistance to 23 organizations offering aid in Ukraine and surrounding regions. Since the campaign began, it has pledged $1.4 million to humanitarian organizations, including funds raised from the video game industry campaign.

This contribution encompasses a generous $175,000 gift to the charitable organization Caritas to cover fuel and vehicle expenses, which are utilized to bolster humanitarian endeavors in Ukraine and bordering regions.

Furthermore, the Humanitas charity received a $50,000 contribution to acquire medical supplies, while Integra, a Slovakian non-profit organization with a network of teams and collaborators in the area, received a $30,000 donation for transporting goods.

An additional $30,000 was allocated to provide legal assistance, evacuation aid, and lodging for LGBT+ individuals in Ukraine.

“I have always taken pride in being a member of the gaming community, and I am even more proud to witness their unwavering support for this movement to provide assistance to Ukraine,” remarked Shona O’Donnell, co-organizer of the Ukrainian gaming industry fundraising initiative and Head of Strategic Campaigns at Better Collective.

“It has been truly remarkable to observe the support from all segments of the industry, both on an individual and corporate basis.”
