The New South Wales gaming regulator in Australia has expressed confidence in Helen Coonan’s continued leadership as Crown Resorts’ head. The authority views her guidance as vital in overcoming the present predicament.
This follows a former judge’s report that revealed significant shortcomings at Crown, including accusations of illicit financial activities. These concerns have already postponed the launch of Crown’s new $2.2 billion Sydney casino. Although Coonan couldn’t provide a definite opening date, she suggested more information could be available by April.
Coonan reassured stakeholders that Crown is collaborating closely with authorities to rectify the situation and reinstate its license. She stressed her dedication to enacting the necessary changes and believes the regulator trusts her capacity to steer Crown through these obstacles.
She did remark, however, that her position on the board is just for the interim while they diligently seek a replacement chief executive officer.
