A French gaming enterprise, Circus Casino France, has secured a majority interest in Switzerland’s Casino de Crans-Montana. This purchase of shares from the French Groupe Partouche signifies Circus Casino’s initial venture into the Swiss gaming sector.
The firm now possesses a 57.24% ownership in the mountain casino, with the remaining shares held by the local governments of Crans-Montana, Lens, Icogne, and the holding entity Ispar.
Circus Casino currently manages and operates seven gaming venues in France, along with a club in Paris, and this acquisition will facilitate the expansion of their operations into Switzerland.
Situated in the canton of Valais, Crans-Montana is a quaint town renowned for its ski resort. Founded in 2000, the casino employs 53 individuals and provides slot machines and table games, generating roughly CHF 15 million (US$16.3 million) in earnings in 2019.
Although this is a novel endeavor for Circus, its parent company, Belgium’s Ardent Group, became the principal shareholder of the Davos casino in Switzerland in October 2021. The group is now strategically positioned for further growth.
“We are delighted to declare the procurement of a stake in the Casino de Crans-Montana, a prosperous land-based casino that has cultivated a strong standing and a devoted customer base throughout the years,” stated Sébastien Leclercq, National Director of Circus Casino France.
This agreement underscores Ardent Group’s goal of becoming a dominant force in the European casino industry, utilizing the well-established Circus name for growth in both physical and digital domains.”
This purchase bolsters the group’s footprint in Switzerland. Concurrently, Gaming1, connected with Circus Casino France, intends to capitalize on this acquisition to provide Swiss patrons with an integrated online and offline encounter via the Circus.ch platform.
