BGaming Unveils Image Compression Algorithm for Faster Game Loading Times

BGaming has created a novel picture condensation method capable of decreasing the dimensions of an operator’s game collection by 55%, resulting in notably quicker game startup durations.

This method addresses a significant obstacle for players facing slow internet connections or utilizing VPNs. By condensing the game data, the total size of the game library is diminished, implying players have less to acquire and games initialize faster.

The ingenuity lies in compressing the visuals within the games. Each file is shrunk as much as feasible without any perceptible decline in image or video fidelity. The most remarkable aspect? It’s entirely automated! The algorithm manages the compression without requiring any manual modifications.

Typically, BGaming has achieved file size reductions from 16.4Mb to 7.3Mb. They even succeeded in shrinking a substantial 38Mb file by an astonishing 51%! Presently, 70% of their games are below 10Mb, all while preserving (at least to the unaided eye) their initial visual excellence.

Yury Kuvetski, Frontend Lead at BGaming, elaborates, “Although image compression might appear straightforward, readily available solutions simply couldn’t provide the optimization we sought without compromising quality. We opted for the less conventional path and constructed our own algorithm to satisfy our stringent requirements and those of our clientele.”

Our games now boast quicker loading times globally, and we’re constantly striving to elevate the user experience,” shared Alexander Novitski, Game Provider Manager at N1 Partners. “Like many, we recognize the significant promise held by Africa and Latin America. These regions are experiencing rapid economic expansion, and their populations are passionate about gaming. However, hurdles exist. For instance, thriving in the Nigerian iGaming sector requires operators to provide a more focused game selection, ensuring swift loading on players’ devices.”
